FAQ

FAQ

How long will it take?

Generally 4-6 weeks for Full Course, depending on your availability and the speed at which the skills are obtained.  Fast Track is generally 2-4 weeks.

Will you help me get my Learner's Permit?

If you take the Full Course, then yes.  If you take any other course, you can come in and use our resources.

Will you help me find a job when I am done?

Yes, we have a job board this lists available jobs and we have recruiters that come in and talk to our classes.

What if I have a CDL and just need a restriction removed?

Yes, we  can help you with that.  You just need a learner’s permit in the restriction to be removed.  We can also help you add endorsements to your existing CDL.

Can I do training online?

Yes, some of our classroom training can be done at home, but behind the wheel training has to be done in Salt Lake City.

Where can I get a DOT Physical?

You can get it done here at our school, please check our DOT Physical page.

Do you have financial aid?

Yes, We are currently working with some companies to help pay for tuition.  We’ll post those as soon as they are ready.  In the meantime, you can see if you qualify for Workforce Services to help with your tuition.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

You can get a refund for anything you haven’t used.  If you have a test scheduled and do not show up then that is not refundable.  If you cancel before 48 hours, then it is totally refundable.  If you cancel less than 48 hours, we are not able to reschedule that time slot and so there will be a $100 fee.

How do I get a Learner's Permit?

You first need to have a DOT Physical done.  Then you study for the written tests.  Then you go to your local Driver’s License Division and take the written tests.  If you pass you will be issued your learner’s permit. More Information.

How can I get through the program faster?

This is a tough one because it depends on each person’s ability. If this is a difficult skill to learn for you, then you just have to keep training until you get it.  We can’t take short cuts here.  You have to demonstrate that you have the skills before you will be scheduled for a test.  If you call and only want a test with no training, and you don’t pass, please don’t ask us to try to get you through faster.  We get many people from out of state that schedule a test on Friday and if they fail, complain because they have to stay over the weekend to test again.  When you come from out of state, expect that you might need to stay longer than anticipated.

Why is it so expensive?

Because maintaining and fueling the equipment is expensive.  Students are very rough on the trucks and they always require repairs.

Do you have night classes?

Currently we do not.

Do I really need training? I've been driving a pickup and trailer for a long time.

You will most likely need training.  These trucks are huge and very different to drive than a pickup truck.

Do I need pre-trip training?

Yes, yes and yes.  Those who don’t get any pre-trip training usually fail.  We so desperately want everyone to get at least a little bit of pre-trip training that we have made it really inexpensive.  $25 is easier to pay than failing a test and having to retake it.  We even have mechanics who fail this part of the test without pre-trip training.

Do I have to speak English?

Unfortunately, all testing is done in English.  You must be able to understand basic directions in English in ordered to be trained.  Also you must be able to speak English well enough to understand a police officer’s questions or they will take away your CDL.

Where can I stay while training?

We have teamed up with Home Town Suites to bring you some great rates.  $56 for 1 bed and $64 for 2 beds.  More Information.

Can I come if I don't live in Utah?

Yes!  You can come train and test in Utah even if you have a CLP from another state.  The only state we cannot accept is Washington.

What are your prices?
